kenyan orphan project
Nottingham University
We're properly keen for KOP this year and are hoping to smash the £10,000 that we raised last year. As you know, students who came to Nottingham Med School set KOP up about 7 years ago now. This helped us to capture the interests of as many students as possible, and it looks like we've whittled them down to a very 'interesting' team of people. Having read their applications, their most embarrassing moments have to be seen to be believed, and we're hoping they'll be recreated on this year's trip. They have one thing in common; their dedication is going to do KOP proud!

Team Co-ordinators

Ben Wyatt - The organised one. Loves a bit of cheeky delegation but has it all under control. It's been rumoured Greenwich Mean Time goes by Ben's watch. Interesting fact; holds the title for the nicest guy in the world.

Ruth Wiecek - Could well be communications officer. This girl could banter for England, and being very slightly older than the rest of us has no problems keeping us in line. She sets deadlines with fearsome authority!

Katy Wilson - Gets along with seemingly everyone. A talented artist and founder of many an epiphany, Katy is responsibly for this many of this year's more creative fundraising ideas.

Rob Burton - Is incapable of writing decent passages about himself, but his sole aim is to inject as much energy as possible into this year's KOP ventures. Yeh, that'll do.

Our project

Last year KOP initiated a feeding programme within Kunya Primary School. This project provides children with two meals a day, enabling them to focus on learning and not their empty bellies!

This year monies raised by the Nottingham KOP student group will fund two meals per day for all 600 pupils at Kunya Primary School. Any further funds raised will go towards the construction of a new Kitchen with a store room, sanitation facilities for the whole school, income generating activities (growing sugar cane) and a water harvesting and management system.
