KOP Global Child Health Course, launched!

A big thank you to everyone who joined us in Bath on Saturday 20th February for the launch of the KOP Global Child Health Course.

Students from all over the country descended on Bath for a day of presentations and talks on Child Health and International Development, followed by an excellent evening of socialising and entertainment, during which some even enjoyed a drink (or three)!!

Many faces were familiar from the 2009 Student Programme and the conference was a great reason to have a reunion and consolidate friendships made over last summer. There were also many new faces and we’re now very much looking forward to getting to know everyone better over the coming months!

We are extremely grateful to Dr Matthew Ellis for sharing his time and knowledge on Child Health in the global context; Andy Macaulay-Brook for showing us all the capabilities and potential of the course itself; and to Dr Dan Magnus for his enthusiastic and animated lecture on International Development and the part we all can play. The course itself will teach KOP students about the difficulties faced by children in developing countries and subjects will include Perinatal care and Safe Motherhood, Nutrition, and the Rights of the Child in the global setting.

The course will be available for FREE to all students participating in our Student Programme, to ensure that volunteers are aware of the context of the socio-economic issues they will witness in-country. If you would like further information on the course, please contact Marti.
